Ahmet Kıran, who investigates the contrasts and the possibility of harmony between nature and the built environment, brings together two areas of interest in his series Imaginary Structures: architecture and still life photography. He brings together natural and industrial materials by detaching them from their context and produces arrangements reminiscent of architectural structures. He explores the potential to establish alternative relationships that seem impossible under ordinary conditions. He blurs the boundaries between human-made and natural elements, trying to create a timeless and balanced universe.

Focusing on the relationship between food-centric culture and human interaction, Ahmet Kıran emphasizes two-dimensionality by avoiding depth of field and reducing objects to their basic forms. Through minimal compositions on simple planes, Kıran explores the interaction between the natural and the cultural in his photographs, using everyday objects as a means of expression. His work presents a mental playground of images, where objects shift between contrast and harmony within various semiotic contexts.
Kıran’s Appetiserz offers a modern reinterpretation of still life, captured in a studio setting and inspired by pop culture aesthetics. The work features unsettling displacements and playful elements, creating a highly colorful, two-dimensional composition. Drawing from a range of media, from archaic representations to advertising billboards, Kıran reimagines the function and meaning of still-life depictions of food and table settings. By relocating the practice of food presentation from its traditional context to the exhibition space—where the cultural and natural realms intersect—he highlights the sense of standardization and placelessness brought about by industrialization, without referencing any specific geography or culture.
